What to expect on the day of your appointment

For any consultation, it is very helpful to have a list of medications, previous medical and/or eye problems.  Please also bring your current glasses and any current or recent glasses prescription.  Insured patients please bring insurance details and pre-authorization number.

A new appointment can last between 20-40 minutes.  If any special tests are performed, this will make your appointment longer.  A detailed medical history is taken, your vision checked, intra-ocular pressures measured and pupils may be dilated.  If dilating drops are used, you will be asked to wait for these to work (typically 20 minutes), after which a thorough retinal examination can be undertaken.  You will not be able to drive a vehicle for several hours after leaving our facility as your pupil will be dilated.  Please make alternate travel arrangements.
