Mr Kurt Spiteri-Cornish MD FRCOphth MSc is a Consultant Ophthalmologist, Cataract and Vitreoretinal Surgeon based in Sheffield.

Appointed as a consultant at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals in 2016, he works within its tertiary vitreoretinal service. His private practice is based at Claremont Private Hospital, where he sees patients with retinal and vitreous disorders, complex cataract problems, complications of previous eye surgery and general ophthalmic concerns.

Following UK ophthalmology training, he completed advanced vitreoretinal fellowship training at Sydney Eye Hospital, a major international tertiary centre.

Education is central to his practice. He teaches and supervises vitreoretinal fellows and ophthalmology trainees, examines for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Sheffield. He has taught future retinal surgeons and junior consultants internationally through specialist surgical retina programmes in the UK and Europe.

He has contributed to more than 40 peer-reviewed publications, presented clinical and research work at national and international meetings, and served as a principal investigator and co-investigator in commercial and academic retinal studies.
